Instructors and Students: Test Your Knowledge of Best Online Education Techniques

Instructors who have been thrown into online learning with little preparation and coaching on its principles are not likely to succeed. Likewise for students.

Use the following quizzes (based on our book, How to Ace Your Online Course) to see if you are up to speed about how online courses are often designed using specific principles, including constructivism, andragogy, scaffolding, and peer-to-peer communication. Quizzes are short; only 7-10 questions.

Here are some sample questions from Chapter 1. Experienced educators will be able to discern the correct answers even if they have not read the book.

  • The authors sharply distinguish between the educational models of non-profit (e.g., "state" schools) and for-profit schools because only for-profit schools tend to treat students like customers.     TRUE FALSE
  • One of the basic principles of distance education, which is to provide students with pre-packaged information and associated assignments that are submitted to an instructor according to a time schedule, derives from ____________________________.

No sign-in required. No tracking. No user data collected. You will just get a score. Take each quiz as often as you like. Questions or comments? Post them here.

The above sample questions represent only a small part of the many important study skills you will learn by reading the book, available from Amazon
